Bronze Age cinerary urn (in the Museum) found during excavation in the playground of the old Grammar School 18/08/1908. Photograph P 16 Bury Hist Rev March 1909. Another urn found in the same place, but so fragile that it fell to pieces - 07/09/1908. Roman coins found at Walmersely - 24/06/1864. Foundation of Bury Castle (or Manor House) were found "during the last few days, while excavating along the line of an intended new street leading from a local paper 28/08/1865.
