First meeting of the Bury Town Council was held in the offices in Bank Stree on 9th September 1876 after election on 1st November.The Improvement Commissioners held their meetings first in Parsons lane nearly opposite Back Eden Street and then removed to Stanley Street near where the old fire station was.
