The Cinderella Club ran a holiday camp scheme for poor children from the early 1900s until 1937. Girls went for a week to Squire's Gate, Boys to Birkdale. There was also a Bury Schools Holiday Camp at the Red Earth farm between Hawkshaw & Edgeworth. See Bury Times 14/05/1932.
