Lancashire painter. Lived at Belthorn, Nr Blackburn as his forbears had done since the C15th. A solicitor by profession he took a great interest in the arts . In 1912 he became a member of Blackburn P.L., Museum & Art Gallery Committee & was a constant advisor to the Gallery. Began to paint during first world war on the Izonz Front in Italy. Often exhibited with the Blackburn Artists Society & in 1939 made a member of the Royal Liverpool Academy. Painted many fine views of and from his home in Belthorn & of his travels in Europe.
