Built by former Bury Rector, Rev. Sir Wiliam Henry Clerke, baronet on the site of the farmhouse, Gooseford. Sir William went into the Fleet prison (for debt) c. 1808. His property was contracted for by Wm. Yates. Mr. Yates lived at the Rectory for a time then removed to Springside, where he died in 1813. Rector Clerke died in prison 1818 and Springside was purchased by William Grant. Daniel Grant died at Springside, 1855. Last occupant was Richard Olive who died 1917. Springside was demolished.Extra wings on the north and south end were erected by Clerke during the 1790s. He then renamed it Springside. Originally farmhouse owned by Kays. Built c. 1720-30.
