Built in 1839 by Samuel Buckley, Landlord of the Commercial Hotel. In its early days it was used as a theatre by"Thorne's Establishment". From 1840 it was used as a Court of Requests; from 1842 as a magistrates court. Rooms were let for lectures, for worship as school rooms. See Hewitson III 514. Messrs. Cornall, plumbers used the building for over 100 yrs. Demolished 1963.
